We board openings after break-ins, accidental damage and storms, and secure properties that are standing empty. Picture a house in New Barnet with a forced back door, or a shop on Barnet's High Street with a cracked pane after closing. In either example we'd make the opening safe, clear the loose glass and leave the building secure. Boarding is the make-safe that buys you time, so your glazier or joiner can do the permanent repair properly.
We board broken windows and secure forced doors, frames and locks. Report it to the police, keep your crime reference number and let your insurer know.
Once the fire service hands the site back, we board the openings to help protect the building from weather and entry. Smoke and odour clean-up sits with other specialists.
Wind-blown branches and loose debris can take out windows and skylights. We board them to keep the rain out until they can be repaired.
Boarding the windows and doors of empty houses, flats and commercial units for landlords, agents and executors.
We usually use exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm, with OSB for smaller openings. Security anti-tamper fixings make the boards hard to remove from outside, and where the frame's sound we fix without causing more damage, which helps when the glazier arrives. If a frame's too far gone, we'll explain the options before we start. We're fully insured (certificate on request) and DBS-checked. For your claim, you'll get an itemised invoice, time-stamped before and after photos and a written statement of the work. Your insurer decides what's covered; we're not loss adjusters, but the paperwork will be in order.
Tell us your postcode and what's damaged. We'll ask about the number and size of openings, the height and access, and whether a door or frame needs securing first.
You'll get a free, clear quote on the call, and we'll agree when we can be with you. Nothing starts until you're happy.
We clear loose glass and debris, fit the boards, photograph the work and leave you with paperwork to send to your insurer.
Smashed glazing or a forced door can stop a business from opening. We board shopfronts, offices, restaurants and warehouses across Barnet, New Barnet and East Barnet, working neatly so the premises looks cared for while the glass is on order. Large panes, high fascias and awkward access affect the quote, so we'll go through it with you on the call.
See Shopfront Boarding"Someone put a brick through our bay window late on a Saturday. The chap on the phone was calm, went through the price before agreeing anything, and the board went up without any fuss. He swept up every bit of glass from the front garden too. The photos he sent made the insurance call much easier."
"Our café door glass was cracked right across after a break-in attempt. They boarded it and fitted it around the letterbox so post still came through. It looked tidy enough that we could stay open until the glazier came. Clear invoice, no surprises."
