Boarding Up Areas in Barnet
Boarding Up Barnet covers Barnet and a number of nearby neighbourhoods. This page shows where we work, which areas have their own page, and how to check your address. The quickest way to confirm coverage is to ring us with your postcode. A person answers 24 hours a day and will tell you on the call whether we can attend.
Barnet
Barnet is the centre of our coverage. That includes Chipping Barnet, also known as High Barnet, where the historic town centre has Barnet Market, the Spires Shopping Centre, independent shops, and restaurants, cafes and bars along the High Street. Those premises often have wide shopfront glazing and entrance doors, so our shopfront and commercial boarding work is relevant here as well as residential windows and doors.
Housing around High Barnet is mixed. The Dollis Valley Estate, for example, was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s and includes two- and three-storey houses, five-storey blocks of flats and maisonettes. The height of an opening affects how we reach it, which is why we ask about floor level and access on the call.
Areas with their own page
These neighbourhoods each have a dedicated page with more about local boarding up:
Each page covers the same core service: making broken windows, forced doors, damaged shopfronts and roof openings safe until the permanent repair is done.
Other places we serve
We also take calls from these localities, subject to confirming on the call:
- Whetstone
- Totteridge
- Cockfosters
There’s no separate page for these places. Call with your postcode and we’ll tell you whether we can attend.
Does boarding up cover my postcode in Barnet?
Postcodes don’t follow neighbourhood boundaries neatly, and an EN4 or EN5 address can sit on the edge of where we usually work. We don’t claim coverage of a whole postcode district, so the reliable answer comes from a quick call. Give us the full postcode and street, and we’ll confirm whether we can come out and work out the likely arrival time from your location.
What you can book in any covered area
The services are the same wherever you are in our coverage:
- Window boarding for broken or cracked glazing, usually with exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm, or OSB for smaller openings. See window boarding.
- Door boarding and securing after a forced entry, including damaged doors, frames and locks.
- Shopfront and commercial boarding for shops, offices, restaurants and warehouses.
- Roof and skylight boarding where an opening is above ground level.
- Vacant and void property securing, boarding the windows and doors of empty properties.
We use security or anti-tamper fixings where they’re needed, and non-destructive fixing where the frame allows. If a frame is too damaged to take boards properly, we explain the options before any work starts. The van carries boarding stock and fixings.
Boarding makes an opening safe and helps protect the property for now, giving you time to arrange glazing or a replacement door as the permanent repair.
Out-of-hours calls
We attend at any hour, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. If a window or door has just been broken and you need it secured tonight, our 24-hour emergency boarding up page explains what to do first and what to have ready when you ring. Stay clear of broken glass and any structure that looks unsafe.
How quotes work wherever you are
Your free quote is given on the call, and it’s clear and agreed before any work starts. We don’t publish prices because every job is different. The main factors are:
- how many openings there are and how big they are
- height and access, such as upper floors, roofs, skylights or ladder work
- materials and board thickness
- the fixing method, including anti-tamper fixings
- whether a damaged door or frame needs securing first
- any glass or debris to make safe
You’ll find more on our pricing page.
After the job
We give you an itemised invoice, time-stamped before and after photographs and a written statement of the work done. These are useful if you’re making a claim, although your insurer decides what’s covered. After a break-in, report it to the police, keep the crime reference number and contact your insurer. Photograph the damage only if it’s safe to do so.
We’re an independent local boarding-up service with over 10 years’ experience. We’re fully insured, with the certificate available on request, and DBS-checked.
Check your address
Send us your postcode, the type and approximate size of each opening, and a few photographs if you can take them safely. That lets us confirm coverage, discuss access and give you a quote.
